| Awards for Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan |
Mammootty and Kavya were adjudged the best actors in the Jesy Foundation Awards, announced a couple of days ago. Mammootty was selected, the best actor for his performance in the Shyamaprasad movie 'Ore Kadal', while Kavya got the best actress for her twin roles in 'Nadhiya Kolapetta Rathri'. Adoor Gopalakrishanan was named the best director while ‘Ore Kadal’ was also selected as the best movie of 2007.
The other awards announced by the foundation includes the ones for Pradeep Palluruthy (best playback singer-‘Katha Parayumpol’), Anitha (best playback singer - Rock N Roll), Sreenivasan, (best screenplay – ‘Katha Parayumpol’), Sathyan Anthikkad (best story-‘Vinodayathra’), Mukesh (best supporting actor – ‘Naalu Pennungal’) Kalpana (best supporting actress- ‘Anjil Oral Arjunan’).
The award will be given away on the 19th of this month at Ernakulam in a colorful function that will be organized at the Fine Arts Hall, in association with the 69th birth year of the famous director. |

| Kavya shifts to a new house |
Following her successful shifting to Kollywood, Kavya is also moving to her new house. The leading actress of the south has now moved on to her new house at Palachuvadu road at Ernakulam, leaving aside her apartments in DD villa, where she had been for almost a decade.
“Even though we had shifted to the new house, some of the finishing works of the house are still going on,'' says Kavya who has been more than happy for the good performance of the new movie in Kollywood ‘Saadhu Miranda’.
After the movie, she had been approached for many projects from Kollywood but still now she hasn’t given a nod to any of them.
Kavya will be seen back to back with superstar projects in their new movies like 'Maadambi' and the film by K K Rajeev, in the near future.
In a decade old career, she had never been seen playing the heroines opposite the senior superstars like Mammootty and Mohanlal.

| I hate glamour: Kavya |
'I would quit rather than oozing glamour beyond limits to survive in the industry', says actress Kavya Madhavan.
The girl from the God's own Country made her comeback in Tamil with a bang in ‘Sadhu Miranda’. However she is choosy about her picking films in Tamil.
'After ‘Sadhu Miranda’, I got many offers in Tamil. However I was in no hurry to accept offers here. If I am asked to do glamour roles, I would rather quit acting than doing such films'.
She is currently busy acting in three Malayalam movies opposite the likes of Mammootty and Mohanlal. |
| Kavya as a classical dancer |
Kavya, though a known youth festival winner, had seldom been called for to depict roles of a classical dancer. She did dance some classical based pieces in some movies but never had been lucky to play a full time role of a dancer.
Bringing an end to this long evading dream of the actress, her new film 'Shivaranjini' will feature her as a classical dancer.
Kavya will play the title role of a famous classical dancer in this love story directed by debutante M R Suresh. Produced by Maharaj creations, the movie will be scripted by Mohandas Peingaavu.
The movie will feature songs by Kaithapram Viswanathan in the lyrics of Kaithapram Damodharan Namboothiri.
Planned to have its shoot at Thanjavoor and Palakkad, the movie will start rolling in a coupe of weeks. |
| Vineeth pairs with Kavya Madhavan in 'Benares' |
Vineeth hogged the limelight playing the lead role in 'Uliyin Osai'. His role as sculptor Iniyan in the film has won the admiration of one and all.
A happy Vineeth says, ' I was thrilled to act in Karunanidhi sir's movie. To speak his dialogues was a big gift.' On his next film, Vineeth, says, ' I am in no hurry to accept all offers that come my way. I am getting good offers but I am listening to scripts very carefully'.
Vineeth says' I am currently working in a Malayalam movie called 'Benares' with Kavya Madhavan. It is an off-beat film and I play a powerful role. All my concentration towards getting my act in the movie,' he says.
He is also slated to appearing for a dance sequence along with cousin Shobana for the forthcoming Filmfare Awards that'll happen in August. |
| 'Banaras' to start this September |
After much critically acclaimed 'Uliyin Oosai' in Tamil and ‘Mizhikal Sakshi’ in Malayalam, actor Vineeth is once again back to silver screen playing the role of a dancer.
He will don the lead as a research student on folk dances in ‘Banaras'- the new movie directed by art director Nemom Pushparaaj. Naturally, the movie will also present the dancing star in some brilliantly choreographed dance sequences.
'Banaras' will also feature Kavya Madhavan and 'Mulla' fame Meera Nandhan in other key roles. This musical will feature songs by Sadhana Saragam, K J Yesudas and Shreya Goswal, set to music by M Jayachandran. Planned to start its shoot by September first week at, the movie will be shot extensively at Kasi, Varanasi and Thiruvananthapuram. |
| Kavya is Mammootty's heroine |
Atlast Kavya Madhavan is playing Mammootty's heroine in noted serial director K.K Rajiv's untitled debut film being produced by Marikkar films.
Rajiv's film is said to be a family thriller. Earlier Kavya was to be Mammootty's heroine in Nasarani, but due to some reasons, Vimala Raman replaced her.
For Kavya it is a dream come true, as she wanted to be the superstar's heroine.Remember Kavya has acted as a child artist with Mammootty in Kamal's Azhagiya Ravanan , and the memorable song Vennila Chandanakinnam.... was picturised on them.
The shoot of the Mammootty- Kavya starrer will start in the first week of November in Tiruvananthapuram. |
| Madambi – Super Hit! |
Mohanlal's B.Unnikrishnan directed Madambi which released last Friday in 61 screens in Kerala, has turned out to be a super hit. The film has grossed a whopping Rs 1.37 crores for three days from the releasing stations in Kerala.
Suresh Shenoy of Shenoys, Ernakulam says: " Madambi has taken a fantastic opening, the best ever for a Malayalam film in recent times. In the opening weekend it has done an amazing 100 percent. The family audiences seem to be loving the movie."
In Mohanlal heartland of Thiruvananthapuram district, for the first time, the star’s film is releasing in seven screens in the district including B stations like Nedumangad, Vettu Road, Paripally, Kalikavilla etc.
All these small stations has reported 110 to 120 percent capacity, as extra seats were put to accommodate the crowds.
Mohanlal as Puthenveetil Gopalakrishna Pillai has taken the viewers by storm. His introduction scene in a 'Pooja room' where he chants in his own voice " Ganesha saranam, saranam ganesha…" is making the crowd go into a frenzy.

The punchline dialogue- Njaan aayitu aarkum budhimutuundakulla.Veruthe budhimuttuundakiyal athu budhimuttuaakume, athu thangathilla ketto, has become popular with the star's fans. And both the songs - Kalyanakacheri… and Amma Mazhakarunu.., have become super hits.
On the whole Madambi looks likely to be Mohanlal's long elusive super hit. Since no big films are releasing for Onam, the film is likely to run for 100 days till Ramzan (Oct 1). |
